To be or not to be afraid of cooties.... ???

The two girls I'm a nanny for are very into boyfriends and girlfriends. they like to play that they have boyfriends. The kids often tease me about getting a boyfriend. Friday the four year old came to me and asked to see the picture of sissy with the cowboy. I put it up on the computer for her to let her see it. She intently stared at it tilting her head one way and then the other. She then pronounced that she would be right back and ran into her bedroom. After a lot of thumping and banging she came out of the bedroom with her sister's cowgirl clothes riding a large stuffed dog using the floppy ears as rains. Then randomly started this conversation.

Her: I want to be a cowboy's girlfriend and then marry him!

Me: Oh really.

Her: You can''t have a boyfriend because boys have cooties!

Me: Why do boys have cooties?

Her: Dad has cooties but it's ok because he washes his cooties.

Me: If all boys have cooties why do you want to have a boyfriend or be married?

Her: I want to marry a cowboy because he will wash his cooties for me and I will like his cooties!

Me: But what if he washes them for me?

Her: No! He only washes them for me.

Miss S. says all boys have cooties and stink. How do children come up with these things!

Two questions:
why are kids so afraid of cooties???
What really are cooties anyway?

I'm in high school???

Tuesday I went to an open house at Miss M's School. It was fun to see her school and meet her school teacher. Plus it seemed to mean a lot to Miss M.

I did have an interesting experience though while walking through the grade school. The halls were extremely crowded with children, parents, grandparents, and friends. While I was standing to one side of the hall waiting for the crowd to part long enough for me to get through, (which seemed like waiting for the parting of the Red Sea.) an elderly man that was passing by firmly took my arm and abruptly asked me why I was not in class?

At first I thought he was joking but quickly realized he wasn't! I tried to tell him that I don't go to school anymore, but he just raised his voice and got more upset. finally I had to change the tone of my voice to get his attention. I told him that I am not in school any more. I have not been in school for a long time and that I graduated several years ago!

He gave me a look of shock and surprised then released my arm. He apologized and said I just made him realize how old he is because he could not the the difference between a teenager and a young woman.

I felt sort of sorry for him so I told him that was ok. I would just take it as a complement.

My boss thought the whole thing was really quite funny!

So I guess I look like a teenager??? hmmm....

Conform or stand strong?

I am always shocked to see the many ways that the world infiltrates our lives to pressure us to conform. I went shopping yesterday to find some reasonably priced jeans but could not find any that was both modest and fit me properly! After walking through the entire mall and spending over two hours looking, I ended up paying $111.44 for only two pars of jeans! They were the only jeans that I could find that met my standards of modesty and at the same time didn't make me look like I had a bubble butt!

When looking at swimsuits I found that almost every store only offered bikinis or something that would resemble a gunnysack. In my opinion a bikini is nothing more than underwear and a bra that you can swim in and is legal to wear in public.

The world not only pressures us to conform to it's physical image of beauty through books, the media, magazines, friends, family and acquaintances but also by providing little or no modest affordable clothing. It seems that only after an exhausting and discouraging hunt can you find modest attractive clothing. Even then you usually have to pay a price for it with your pocket book.

We have the choice to ether conform to the image the world sets for us or we take on the world standing strong and keep to our Lords standards he has set for us.

Will you conform or stand strong?

Friday night out!

Wow! I tell people that I'm moving away and then the start inviting me to parties? hmmm... My Dad says it's like a famous painter, They usually have to die before they become famous.

Well, I had a great time Friday night! I was invited to two parties, bowling, and to go see a movie, but decided to go to the movies to see "Expelled". After that both groups joined up for dinner. We all laugh a lot!

Expelled is sort of a documentary of Religious prosecution in the present day. Ben Stein faces the arguments agents evolution vs. Intelligent design and the prosecution of people that speak out about Intelligent Design as a possibility of the worlds creation.

I found it very interesting and informative. Stein faced the issue will great precision and intelligence. Stein seemed not to be taking a side but simply collecting the facts that in the end make the answers very clear.

This is what world magazine had to say about Ben Stine.
Though audiences probably know Ben Stein best as the economics teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the actor had a distinguished career preceding the classic '80s movie—just not in the entertainment industry.

Long before ad-libbing the world's most famously boring free-market lecture, Stein was a Yale-trained trial lawyer, a professor at Pepperdine University, an economist, and a speech writer for presidents Nixon and Ford. Even today, along with his acting, voice-over, and game-show-hosting work, he writes regular business columns for The New York Times and Yahoo! Finance Online, as well as numerous books and articles on various political topics. Of all of Hollywood's politically outspoken celebrities, Stein's impressive resumé makes him the likeliest candidate for most credible.

Bremerton???

Ok, It's time to answer some of your emails, phone calls, and texts...

We put our house on the market several weeks ago and had five buyers in five days with two back up offers. So we started looking in Bellingham but could not find what we wanted. Then my dad came home a few days ago and announced he quit his job. He really wants to get back to the peninsula or the south west corner of Washington. We miss the beaches, clamming, crabbing, fishing, flying kites and the smell of the saltwater. We miss the cry of the seagulls'. My parents are looking for the right place to retire, start a family ministry and enjoy their lives. My Dad decided it would be best to quit and spend the time looking for a job in the areas we want to live. We have spent the last several weeks packing most everything we own into a storage unit and moving everything else into a small three bedroom apartment five blocks from our home we sold. (Thanks to the help of some friends.)

Up date.......Dad has taken a job in Belfair. It is south of Bremerton, Washington. He is quit excited. It is a truly beautiful area and a great job. God has truly blessed us in this area.. We have already made a trip looking for a home. We are all tired from the traveling but it must be done. We are going to make an offer on a small home in a nice area thinking it will be a great place to retire and until Ed leaves home he can easily catch a bus to and from Collage. He is studding Computer Science. It would be a easy commute for my dad and there are many opportunities for fellowship at a good church. I should be able to find a decent job to keep up my car payments. There are rivers, lakes and salt water coasts everywhere. We think Port Orchard is our best bet to meet everyones needs, wants and ministry. It is a beautiful area to live.

Please keep us in your prayers.

God is so good!.

The family that I work for are going on vacation and taking me with them!
I'll leave this Thursday afternoon and will return on Saturday. I'll be staying at a very nice hotel in my own room all expenses paid. The purpose of me going is simply for the convince of the grandparents. My purpose, an extra person to help with the three children.
We will be taking the children to either the Zoo or the Science Museum. Then we plan to will go swimming and possibly take the girls shopping at the mall while the guys hangout.
The Grandparents wanted me to drive the kids back from the hotel so they could stay an extra day but as I am not comfortable driving on major freeways yet they rented a limousine with a personal driver to take the children and me home.
I'm so exited about the limo! Riding in a limo is just one of those things that I always wished I could do but never thought I'd get the chance. The children don't think it's that big of a deal, after all it's not the first time they've done it.
I will try to take lots of pictures.

I love my job!

Father Abraham's funny family???

Well, We are moved into the rental now thanks to the help of Jon, Phil and Adam! Thanks guys!

I don't know how we could have done it with out their help.
Now that it is all over my whole family is experiencing some pitiful and yet amusing side effects of stress exhaustion and lack of sleep. The upside is that it all makes for a great blogpost.

Here are some of them.

We are all walking into walls.

When standing still our knees will buckle and we will suddenly fall to the ground.

We will start a project and then can't remember what we are doing.

Going up and down the stairs becomes a really hard workout!

Singing songs and putting in new words is such as the one Mom and I sang. It goes like this...
Father Abraham had many funnies! Many funnies had Father Abraham! I am one of them and so are you........

We will start sentences and forget what we were saying. Like today when I was trying to ask my Dad for something. Hey Dad! I need... I need... I need... I need... I can't remember! Dad, I have needs I'm just not sure what they are but I have them........

Just think we get to do this all over again in a few weeks........

Stay tuned for more fun adventures of Father Abraham's funny family!

Happy birthday to me?

The girls had their room painted this week. They were having trouble adjusting to the changes so I planed a tea party in their room. The youngest girl and I went to Safeway and got some cookies and some milk then setup the tea party for when her sister and brother got home from school. She was so exited about the party that she decided that it must be someones birthday so she kept singing happy birthday to me all day. The down side to that was the only part of the song she could remember was "Happy Birthday to you". It was cute for a while but it did get old!
When the older sister got home she had a teddy bear from school named Patches that was taking turns being sent home with all the kids in her class. This week it was her turn so Patches got to have a tea party with us. Patches even got his own tea cup and cookies.
The girls had a great time and said that they though there room was cool! The older brother not wanting to participate went and worked on a project. He did enjoy the cookies and milk though.

Motherhood!

Flashes of Motherhood.

Yesterday I had happy meal boxes, kids toys, and a car seat in my car.
Welcome to Motherhood.

I asked the girls if they needed to use the restrooms before we left the house to go on a picnic at the park but it was not till we got all the way across the park to decide they really needed to go really really bad! By the time the girls make the trip to the restrooms they were all tuckered out and we decided it was time to go home. While walking to the car I couldn't help but laugh at myself. I was caring my purse a blanket a lunch pale Shesh (Summer's stuffed sheep that she takes everywhere she goes.) and I was caring Summer. To top it all off I looked down and realized that Summer was waring the muddy boots that she wore on the field trip to the cheese farm that I worked at about three years ago. I now had dirt and cow manure all over the front and back of me from Summer's shoes.
Welcome to motherhood.

Friday I was driving to the car wash with the girls when we saw some of my guy friends turning onto the same street. The girls started to giggle. A few moments after turning onto another street Summer let out a loud scream! Thinking that she must be in pain to scream like that I instantly puled the car over to see what was wrong. I was puzzled to see big smiles on both the girls faces. The guys drove buy and the girls explained that the guys waved at them and they thought that they were cute! Apparently they like guys in cowboy hats. I think they took years off my life with that one.
Welcome to Motherhood.

It seems like every time I tell someone one of the funny stories about the kids people say the same thing. Welcome to Motherhood. Kids are great for keeping us humble!

I love being a nanny!

Pleas pray for my Mother.

Yesterday morning my Mother called her doctor because she suddenly had some terrible chest pains, The doctor told her to immediately go to the emergency room. The symptoms she was having were exactly the same as a heart attack. Mom spent the day having tests done. They found that it was not her heart. Thank you God! Apparently if you have severe food allergy it can inflame the esophagus and it will push on your heart giving you the same symptoms as a heart attack. She did have a minor surgery as part of the testing. She is doing much better today but is still very week.

Our house is sold! We had six offers on it in the first week. God is so good! We're just waiting to see if it all goes through ok. We have found some houses we are interested in but nothing we're really exited about witch is not good considering if our house does sell we wont have a place to live. I'm not fond of that idea. God will take care of us though. Moving will be interesting. Dad Mom and I all have bad backs, so that just leaves my brother Ed to move everything. hmmm.....

last post.

Just so you all know the last Post is a recent Post. I started it months ago but just recently finished it but it cam up with the past date. oh well.
